This system is a comprehensive solution for flame monitoring and slag dumping image acquisition at the converter front. By installing industrial cameras to capture real-time flame images at the converter mouth, it enables remote "flame observation" operations. The system comprises image acquisition devices, cooling and protection units, industrial control computers, data communication equipment, flame image acquisition and analysis software.

By integrating video recording of flame and slag dumping images with machine vision-based image processing technology, the system intelligently analyzes flame states at the converter mouth in alignment with metallurgical principles. Through feature extraction, it provides quantitative predictions of slag foaming, slag dry-back, and splash intensity parameters during the blowing process. This offers digitalized technical support to steelmaking operators for enhanced process control.

Basic functions:

  1. 1.The smelting observation window is enclosed to display real-time and complete flame images in front of steelmaking operators, achieving spatial decoupling between the operation console and the converter body.

  2. 2.During the oxygen-blowing stage, the flame observation camera identifies splashing conditions in the smelting process and records the duration and frequency of splashing.

  3. 3.During the slag dumping process after the end of oxygen blowing, the slag dumping camera observes the color and fluidity of the slag flowing out of the converter mouth to determine whether molten steel is entrained in the slag dumping process.

  4. 4.At the stage of slag dumping completion, the slag splashing effect and the erosion status of the furnace lining can be observed by tilting the furnace.

  5. 5.The system has a dual-camera automatic switching function, which can automatically select cameras according to the converter smelting status to ensure accurate tracking of the converter mouth.

Value-Added Functions:

  1. 1.Remote Centralized Control: Multi-video-source "flame observation for steelmaking" realizes spatial decoupling of gun operators and ensures no delay in long-distance transmission and image clarity.

  2. 2.Flue Gas CO Curve Tracking: Real-time CO data of the current smelting process, CO data of the previous heat, and historical CO data.

  3. 3.Image Capture: Photos are taken at the start of steel tapping and during splashing, and users can set scene-specific captures.

  4. 4.CT Prediction: If inputs such as molten iron temperature/weight per heat and scrap steel addition are provided, the system predicts bath temperature and carbon content in real time by analyzing flue gas and flame characteristics.

  5. 5.Slag Dry-Back Alerts, Splash Warnings, and Flame-End Detection: The system comprehensively judges the slag melting status in the furnace through machine learning algorithms by integrating acquired flue gas data, image signals, and converter smelting data, and prompts operators with text messages based on the judgment results.

  6. 6.Intelligent Flame Status Recognition Function: A complete front-furnace image acquisition system is installed in front of the converter to intelligently recognize the flame status at the converter mouth, monitor slag particles, slag flakes, slag overflow, and splashing conditions, and quantitatively output flame analysis results to the converter oxygen lance intelligent control system.
